COMPARATIVE CONSTITUTIONS PROJECT

Exploring the World's Constitutions

The Challenge

Opening one of the world's richest constitutional resources to a global audience

The Comparative Constitutions Project has spent decades building one of the world's most comprehensive collections of constitutional texts and supporting data. The challenge was not creating that knowledge, but making it accessible to the people who needed it.

Researchers, policymakers, educators and citizens all approached the information differently. Each audience needed different ways of finding, comparing and understanding the same body of knowledge.

The platform therefore needed to transform a highly specialised academic resource into an intuitive experience without compromising the richness or integrity of the underlying research. The aim was to make complex constitutional knowledge easier to explore, compare and understand.

Our Approach

Designing intuitive journeys through complex knowledge

Working in close partnership with the Comparative Constitutions Project, Psycle focused on understanding how different audiences would interact with constitutional information.

The user experience was shaped around exploration rather than simply presenting documents, enabling users to search, compare, filter and navigate large collections of content.

People needed more than a website for reading constitutional documents. They needed a platform designed to help them search, compare and explore constitutional knowledge. Rather than adapting an off-the-shelf CMS, the platform was developed specifically around the way constitutional knowledge is searched, compared and explored.

The Solution

A scalable research platform built for exploration, comparison and discovery

Working alongside the Comparative Constitutions Project, Psycle was responsible for the user experience, visual identity and digital platform. Advanced search, multilingual support, side-by-side comparison and intuitive navigation transform a complex body of constitutional information into an intuitive and accessible research experience.

Working iteratively with the CCP team enabled the platform to evolve alongside changing user needs whilst preserving the integrity of the underlying research.

Since its launch, the platform has continued to evolve through iterative design, multilingual support, enhanced search capabilities, new visualisations and ongoing platform engineering.
